Today we’re talking about something that can quietly make you… or completely break you.
Habits.
A few weeks ago Eric and I were deep in one of those delicious, three-hour coffee conversations we both live for, and the topic of habits came up. I remembered a sermon from Hope Church that still haunts me in the best way. It was about a suburban mom — carpool, retail job, bake-sale, totally normal life — who started having one or two drinks to “take the edge off” the boredom and the chaos.
One or two became morning-to-night. She was still driving the kids to school, still showing up to work… until one day it all crashed down and she ended up in jail. The pastor’s point? She didn’t wake up one morning deciding to ruin her life. She just let a tiny, “harmless” habit take the wheel.
That story stuck with me because it’s proof: the habits we tolerate today are writing the biography of our future selves.
And I will confess something that happened to me just last month.
I was at HomeGoods with my little sister and her husband we were all starving, had skipped lunch and it was late, I ran to get the car while they checked out and when they got in the car they pulled out these chocolate-covered s’mores graham crackers they had picked up by the register. They passed the bag back to me I had one bite and basically blacked out from happiness, I don’t even think they got anymore. Well..Next time I was in that store in Memphis? I Bought them again. The time after that? I was literally searching every cash register hunting those stupid graham crackers like my life depended on it.
As an interior designer, I’m in HomeGoods way more than any human should be. If I let that turn into a ritual, I’m going to be designing beautiful homes while carrying an extra 15 pounds. All because of a $4.99 impulse buy that became a habit before I even noticed.
Habits sneak in like that — quiet, cute, seemingly harmless… until they’re running the show.
And speaking of habits that have gotten wildly out of control…
I don’t know if you saw this or not but Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy just launched this glorious campaign to bring dignity, class, and actual style back to air travel? He straight-up had to tell grown adults: “Please stop wearing pajamas on planes.”
I’m not even exaggerating — the official statement asked people to dress with respect and bring manners back to flying. When the Secretary of Transportation has to beg us to put on real pants… Houston, we have a cultural problem.
Somewhere along the line we decided that looking like we just gave up is now acceptable public attire. Sweatpants with words across the butt at the airport? Bunny slippers on a 6 a.m. flight? We stopped dressing for the occasion and started dressing for the couch.
But here’s the hard truth we all should tattoo on our soul:
What you put on your body every morning is the very first vote you cast for the woman you’re becoming.
Your outfit isn’t just fabric. It’s a signal — to yourself and to the world — about how seriously you’re taking your one precious life.
I never feel powerful, put-together, or magnetic if I’m wearing an “I give up” outfit. Never. But when I walk out the door looking like the main character? Different story. I stand taller, speak clearer, attract better opportunities — and yes, people treat me differently too.
Dressing well is a habit.
Eating junk every time you’re near the HomeGoods checkout is a habit.
Scrolling instead of sleeping is a habit.
Speaking kindly to yourself (or brutally) is a habit.
These tiny little choices feel insignificant in the moment, but they compound faster than you think.
So here’s the question I want you to sit with this week:
What habit are you flirting with right now that your future self is going to have to pay for?
Catch it early. Kill it with love (or just don’t buy the dang s’mores crackers).
Because I don’t know about you, but I’m not here to build a life that feels mediocre. I’m here to feel wildly successful — in my body, in my relationships, in the way I show up in the world — every single day.
That’s my challenge to you today is to catch a habit you’ve been kickin around with that you KNOW isn’t serving you and just decide right now you’re done with that…Kick that habit before it kicks you………..

In case you haven’t heard this recently, I believe in you. You actually can do anything you set your mind to, you just have to decide that’s what you’re gonna do. The choices we make every day are creating the life we live, make sure they serve you, and because none of us are perfect, when you do make a choice that isn’t great, be aware of it and don’t allow it to become a habit.
I love you guys, I’ll talk to you in a few days!
