LISTEN TO: Is Your Home Stealing your Peace?

Of the Wildly Successful Lifestyle. I’m Heidi, and I’m really glad you’re here with me today.

I loved the story from Episode 651 about My sisters turtle and how to feel at home in your own skin…and I really do want that for all of us, to feel at home in our own skin but the one thing that stood out to me is that Cruz, that’s the turtles name had this awesome new home thanks to my little sister and when he allowed himself the chance to adventure into it, he thrived, which got me thinking that, your outer home, the one you actually live in can quietly become the perfect support for that inner sanctuary you’re building. I’m an Interior Designer by day and so that comes out in my episodes every once in a while and this is one of those episodes.

So as you know if you’ve been hanging out with me for a while, I’ve been constistently doing my mindset work, getting all my workouts in, eating clean most of the time — things seem really good. But I noticed recently there’s been this low background anxiety rumbling in my mind for a while now. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. Finally the other day I realized what it was.

For years we had an organizer who would come every six months or so and work with me to organize things, and she would take a day with my husband as well. It always felt so good when she was done. Well, maybe four years ago she passed away and honestly we haven’t had it in us to try a new organizer because she was so good and we loved everything she did. It was a real loss for many reasons, but we haven’t found a replacement, so it’s really just been me keeping up where I could. But it’s not my cup of tea, so lately I could tell it was starting to weigh on me.

One of the main areas was our master bathroom. You know how things gather, especially if you love product like I do. But it was starting to encroach on the counters, which is not okay with me. So finally I just had it and I pulled everything out, filled a whole garbage can with things we no longer used or were really old, organized the rest, hung a piece of art that had just been leaning agains the wall, cleared the counters completely except for the little things I wanted and man, it took this giant weight off my shoulders. It’s so Weird how that works. I had not really realized how much that had been sub consciously bothering me.
… that low-grade anxiety I’d been carrying….It got so much lighter. My thoughts felt clearer. My whole body felt lighter. It was like I’d made space inside my head without even meaning to. And later when my husband walked in and saw it, he said it had been bothering him too, he just never verbalized it. we’d both been living with that quiet drain.

That moment was such a good reminder: our outer environment plays a much bigger role in our inner environment than we give it credit for. Just like Cruz, the turtle. When his environment got upgraded, he didn’t just stay the same — he grew. He thrived. That’s what happened in my bathroom. Clearing the outer clutter gave my inner self room to expand.

And that’s where a little feng shui wisdom comes in. I’ve been a certified feng shui designer for years, but I don’t talk about it a ton because I don’t want it to sound complicated or mystical. At its heart, it’s actually pretty simple. Honestly I found when I went through the training that I actually designed in feng shui style very innately. It’s about letting energy move gently and freely instead of getting stuck in clutter or tight spaces. When your surroundings feel clear and calm, your nervous system finally gets the message: “You’re safe here.” Your brain stops scanning for little threats and you can actually relax and create.

Science backs it up too — a calmer space really does lower that background stress and helps you stay in the “I’ve got this” mindset we’ve been building. It makes everything so much easier because you’re not starting the day already feeling a little drained.

So I wonder if there’s a quiet drain you’ve been feeling, maybe not even consciously, maybe it’s subconscious. Maybe there’s the junk drawer that isn’t going to hold one more thing, or a magazine stack that you don’t even consciously see anymore. Is there something quietly draining you and you maybe haven’t noticed until now.

What would it feel like to just clear that space? What if we each gave ourselves one small “welcome home” gift this week? Not a whole house overhaul — just one tiny spot that says, “this is your respite” Maybe it’s your entryway, or your bathroom like mine, or even the corner of your bedroom you see first thing in the morning.
For me, it was as simple as pulling everything out, letting go of what no longer belonged, and letting the space breathe. You might do the same. Or maybe you add one thing that makes you smile — a favorite photo, a little plant, soft light. Whatever feels personal to you. The point isn’t perfection. It’s just creating that little pocket of sanctuary so your inner turtle can feel even bigger, safer, and more free to carry you through whatever the day brings.

Because when your outer home starts supporting your inner home like that… everything else gets lighter. You sleep better. You show up with more patience for the people you love. You have more energy to keep those small, meaningful changes going. You start living that wildly successful life — your version — from a place that feels grounded and joyful instead of quietly overwhelmed.

I’d love to know if this resonates with you. Has there been a spot in your house that’s been quietly weighing on you? Maybe something you’ve been meaning to clear or shift? If you feel like it, send me a quick voice note or even a before-and-after picture. Tell me what you noticed once you made that small change. I read every single one, and I’ll share some of the stories in a future episode because I love celebrating these little wins.
If these little chats are helping you feel a bit more grounded and inspired, I’d be so grateful if you’d hit subscribe and leave a quick review. It helps other women find this space too.
I love you guys,

I’ll talk to you in a few days.
